This spell enchants an area to become an astral prison.
The spellcaster creates a magical pattern in the area using sand and pulverized crystals (500 silver) while weaving threads. Each Thread Weaving test (or equivalent) takes 30 minutes.
After weaving the threads, the spellcaster exclaims “Clang!” and makes a Spellcasting (20) test.
If successful, the pattern is consumed and becomes the magical pattern for the spell, leaving nothing remaining.
The spellcaster may either set the spell to activate when the next entity enters the area (and provide some clarification as to what it affects) or trigger it as a Free action. They don’t have to be present to trigger it and could include a separate alarm to notify them when something enters the area.
The Effect Step is compared against the Mystic Defense of everything in the area. If successful, all affected things in the area are transported to an astral realm, leaving behind a small, ceramic egg with the spellcaster’s personal glyph on it as the key to the prison.
This spell may be cast once per day.
Time doesn’t pass within this astral prison, though the perception of time theoretically still exists.
Destroying the egg ends the spell and returns everything from the prison to the nearest safe area — throwing the egg into Death’s Sea doesn’t drop everything into Death’s Sea, but somewhere relatively safe on the shore.
If this spell isn’t triggered within the duration, it ends.
If used, the spell persists until the egg is broken.
Dispelling it requires possessing the egg and is a more complicated way of accomplishing the same as destroying it, but you still have that egg.
